GENERAL QUESTIONS

How do I look after my candle?

We recommend a few things to get the most out of your glass candle.

+ Burn your candle all the way to the edge (especially on the first burn)

+ Trim your wick to 1/4” (1cm) before every burn

+ Don’t burn your candle for longer than 4 hours and always keep it within sight

+ Stop burning the candle when the wax is 1/4” (1cm) from the base of the vessel

Here are our recommendations for the pillar candles.

+ Burn your candle between 2-4 hours each time. We test our candles for periods of 2 hours and find it gives the most consistent burn.

+ Trim your wick to 1/4” (1cm) before every burn. If the wax is spilling over the edge, you can trim the wick as short as 1/8” (1/2cm)

How do I reuse my vessel?

Soy wax is a soft wax, so it’s easy to clean out your jar for reuse. We recommend using a soft utensil (like chopsticks) to break up the wax a little. Then pour in very hot water to melt the wax. Soy wax is biodegradable so you can put the wax in the compost! As for the metal wick tab and cotton wick, please put these in the garbage. Once most of the wax has been cleaned out of the vessel, you can run it through the dishwasher or give it a scrub with soap and hot water. If your wick tab is being tricky, pour some rubbing alcohol into the bottom of the vessel and it’ll pop out. Rubbing alcohol is also great at removing any excess wax residue.

We love reusing our vessels and would encourage you to do the same. Here are some suggestions:
+ pour yourself a drink
+ store small items
+ plant a plant
+ use it as a vase

What kind of fragrance do you use?

We use a mixture of fragrance oils and essential oils. All of our oils are high quality and phthalate-free.

How long do Field Kit candles last?

Our glass and pillar candles burn for about 50 hours.

Do you ship worldwide?

Right now we ship to Canada and the US. However, please get in touch and we may be able to set something up!

Where are Field Kit goods made?

All Field Kit goods are made and packaged in Calgary, Canada. We source all of our supplies as locally as possible. If we are unable to make something in Canada, we go to the US, and then look abroad for skilled craftspeople.

I own a store and I’d like to stock Field Kit please.

Take a look at our wholesale page and send us a message. We’d love to chat!

Can I come and smell the candles in person?

We are definitely open to studio visits, by appointment. Please send us a DM on Instagram or email us and we’ll set up an appointment!
You can also visit one of our many local stockists. You can find them here.

WORKSHOP QUESTIONS

Can I get a refund for my workshop ticket?

Workshop bookings are non-refundable. However, if you’re unable to make it because of something outside of your control, please get in touch via email as soon as you can and we’ll figure something out.

What if I arrive late?

We understand that sometimes things happen! Our workshops start with a tour of our fragrance library, and an introduction to candle making, so if you’re 10-15 minutes late you can still join the class!

Can I take my candles home on the same day as the workshop?

Yes! We have timed our workshops so that the candles will be set (but still warm) by the time the evening is over.

Can I bring a child/ teenager?

We are happy to host children ages 12+ if they are accompanied by an adult also attending the workshop.

Can I bring food/ drink?

We would appreciate it if you didn’t bring food into the studio as we have limited space. You are welcome to bring a beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) and/or a snack though!

Is your building accessible?

Unfortunately, the Field Kit Studio is located on the fourth floor of a very old building in downtown Calgary. We do have an elevator, but there are still 6 steps before you can access it. We are currently working with our building managers to make the building accessible.

I want to hold a private event/ workshop in your space.

Please get in touch! We have enough seating for 18 people and are open to any ideas you may have.

If you’d like to hold a private candle-making workshop we require at least 10 guests. Send us an email and we’ll find a date/ time that works!
